Camilo Doval (born July 4, 1997) is a Dominican baseball relief reliever who now pitches for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He signed as a free agent with the Giants in 2015 and made his MLB debut in 2021. His fastball has reached speeds of 104.5 mph (168.2 km/h).
Doval got promoted to the big leagues for the first time on April 16, 2021. On April 18, at the age of 23, he made his MLB debut against the Miami Marlins, tossing a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts.
In September 2021, he joined Brian Wilson as the second Giants pitcher to throw a pitch faster than 102 mph since Statcast began recording in 2008. At 24 years and three months old, he became the Giants’ youngest pitcher to record a save since Rod Beck in 1992.
After pitching 14.1 scoreless innings, Doval was awarded the National League Reliever of the Month for September/October. In those outings, he struck out 20 hitters while walking only three, and in the conclusion, he was the team’s closer.
