Austin Thomas Slater happens to be a professional baseball player who plays as an outfielder for the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Before playing baseball professionally, Austin played baseball at the high school he attended, which is the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida.
When he was done with high school, the Los Angeles Dodgers drafted him in the 44th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft but Austin did not sign with them and made a choice to play college baseball at Stanford University.
When he finished his junior year in college, the San Francisco Giants came along drafting him in the eighth round of the 2014 MLB draft. Austin decided to forgo his senior year in college and signed with the Giants for a $200,000 signing bonus.
That year, he made his professional debut playing for the Arizona League Giants of the minor league and was later promoted to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes after he played in two games.
Austin was promoted to the major leagues in June 2017,l and he made his MLB debut that day when the Giants played against the Philadelphia Phillies.
