Alan Rangel, a Hermosillo native and member of the Naranjeros, was added to Atlanta’s 40-man roster Wednesday with an eye toward next season.
Alan went 7-7 with a 3.87 ERA in 22 appearances across Class A and Double A this season, including 21 starts. With the Mississippi Braves, he became a champion in his first season.
In six years in the minor leagues, the player who debuted with the Braves in 2015 is 27-30.
Alan Eduardo Rangel is 24 years old and stands 1.88 meters tall with a weight of 77 kilograms.
In Hermosillo, Sonora, he was born on August 21, 1997. He first appeared in the MLB champions’ affiliates in 2015.
The Atlanta Hawks chose Rangel’s deal. Sonoran Rangel is now protected from being drafted under Rule 5. Rangel has yet to reach Triple-A, but he pitched well at the High-A and Double-A levels this season, with a 32.0 percent strikeout rate and a 6.1 percent walk rate for an ERA of 3.87 and a WHIP of 1.03.
