Tyler Michael Thornburg plays professional baseball for the Atlanta Braves baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). He was born in Houston, Texas in the USA where he is known to have played as an outfielder in little league baseball for the Sandy Springs All-stars at age 12.
His team won the Georgia state championship that year and was also able to make it to the 2001 Southeast Regional final of the Little League World Series. When he reached high school age, he enrolled at Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs, Georgia where he played for the school’s baseball team.
After high school, attended Charleston Southern University, where he played college baseball for the Buccaneers which happens to be a member of the Big South Conference within NCAA Division I. He played as both a pitcher and an outfielder for the team.
Tyler also played as a pitcher in collegiate summer baseball for the Winchester Royals of the Valley Baseball League in Virginia in 2008 and played for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League in the summer of 2009. He earned the title of the Big South pitcher of the week twice in 2010.
During the 2010 MLB draft, Tyler was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers 3rd round of the 2010 MLB draft. He signed with the Brewers and began his professional debut that same year pitching for the Helena Brewers in the Rookie-level Pioneer League.
The Brewers called him up to the majors in 2012 where he made his MLB debut for the Brewers on June 19, 2012, when the Brewers played against the Toronto Blue Jays.
