William Woods is one of the minor league players who play as a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves baseball team of the Major League Baseball (MLB). William was born on December 29, 1998, in Trenton, Tennessee in the United States.
He played high school baseball when he was enrolled at Peabody High School. Whiles in his senior year in 2017, he recorded a 12–2 record with a 0.84 ERA and 119 Strikeouts. When he graduated from high school, he continued at Dyersburg State Community College where he played college baseball for the team and recorded a 7–3 with a 3.64 ERA over 12 starts during the 2018 college baseball season.
The Atlanta Braves drafted him during the 23rd round of the 2018 MLB draft. He agreed to play for the Braves and signed with them to begin his professional career. He was made to start with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Braves of minor league baseball.
William spent his 2019 season playing for the Rome Braves of the Class A South Atlantic League where he recorded a 1–5 with a 3.35 ERA and 58 strikeouts over 51 innings. In 2020, due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, William did not play in a game.
In November 2021, the Braves added him to their 40-man roster and he started the 2022 season with the Mississippi Braves of the Double-A Southern League.
