Orlando Jes Arcia, born on August 4, 1994, is a Venezuelan Major League Baseball shortstop for the Atlanta Braves (MLB). He debuted in the major leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2016, then was moved to Atlanta before the 2021 season.
Arcia began the 2016 season with the Class AAA Pacific Coast League’s Colorado Springs Sky Sox. On August 2, he made his big league debut. He hit.219/.273/.358 in 55 games for the Brewers, with four home runs and 17 RBIs.
He participated in 153 games the next season, hitting.277/.324/.407 with 15 home runs and 14 stolen bases.
The Brewers traded Arcia to the Atlanta Braves on April 6, 2021, in exchange for Patrick Weigel and Chad Sobotka. Arcia was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on July 3.
In the majors in 2021, he batted for both clubs. In 81 at-bats, he hit 198/.258/.309 with two home runs and 14 RBIs. The Braves ended with an 88-73 record, winning the NL East, and went on to win the World Series in 2021, their first victory since 1995.
Arcia and the Braves agreed to a two-year, $3 million contract on November 30, 2021.
