Matt Olson, real name Matthew Kent Olson is one of the professional baseball players in the Atlanta Braves baseball team. He plays as a first baseman for the team and wears the number 28 jersey in the team.
Matt was raised in Georgia and had his high school education and amateur career at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia. He was born on March 29, 1994, to Scott and Lee Olson. Whiles in high school, Matt led the team to win state championships in 2011 and 2012.
When he completed high school, he had wanted to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University but he got drafted by the Oakland Athletics during the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball(MLB) draft. He then decided to rather sign and begin professional baseball than play college baseball.
He signed with the Athletics and made his professional debut in the 2012 baseball season whiles playing for the Arizona League Athletics. In September 2016, the Athletics selected his contract and called him up to the majors.
The Athletics traded him to the Atlanta Braves in March 2022 after which he was made to sign an 8-year contract extension of $168 million. This contract came as the largest contract ever in team history.
