Who is Tommy Edman?
Thomas Hyunsu Edman is a Major League Baseball second baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals in the United States.
Edman, who was born and raised in San Diego, played three seasons of college baseball at Stanford University before being taken in the sixth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Cardinals.
He began his career in their minor league system before making his MLB debut in 2019 and rapidly establishing himself as a key member of their starting lineup, playing in both the infield and outfield.
In 2021, he received a Gold Glove Award.
Edman earned an All-Academic Team pick at La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego, California, where he graduated in 2013.
He attended Stanford University and was a member of the Stanford Cardinal baseball team.
He played collegiate summer baseball for the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League after his sophomore season in 2015, where he batted .304, and was nominated to the East Division All-Star team as the starting second baseman, and helped the Red Sox win the league championship.
Edman started every game at shortstop and batted as a junior at Stanford in 2016. In 54 games, he hit 286 with 24 RBIs and led Stanford in runs (35), hits (61), triples (4), and stolen bases (8), earning him a position on the Pac-12 first team.
He was picked in the sixth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the St. Louis Cardinals after his junior year.
