Lars Taylor-Tatsuji Nootbaar, professionally known simply as Lars Nootbaar is a professional baseball player who plays as an outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He had his amateur baseball career at El Segundo High School.
Lars continued his amateur career after high school by enrolling at the University of Southern California (USC). Whiles in college, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In 2018, during the 2018 MLB draft, the St. Louis Cardinals selected him in the eighth round of the draft.
Lars began his professional career that year after he signed with the Cardinals and was made to play with the State College Spikes of the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League. For the 2019 minor league season, he was first assigned to the Class A Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League after which the Cardinals promoted him to the Class A-Advanced Palm Beach Cardinals of the Florida State League.
The Cardinals promoted him again that same year to play for the Class AA Texas League. The 2020 minor league git was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic thus Lars did not play in any game. The Cardinals added him to their 40-man roster in June 2021. The team also promoted him to the major leagues that day where he made his MLB debut when the Cardinals played against the Detroit Tigers.
