Daz Laboy is a Puerto Rican MLB pitcher for the New York Mets in the Big League. With the Seattle Mariners, he made his major league debut in June 2016 and played until 2018.
He led the American League with 57 saves in 2018, was selected to the All-Star team, and was voted the league’s Reliever of the Year.
Daz grew up in Naguabo, Puerto Rico’s Daguao area, where he studied and played football. Around the age of 7, he began playing baseball, mostly as a centre fielder.
Carlos Correa and José Berros were among the guys that accompanied Daz in the outfield as he grew up in Puerto Rico. His father insisted on him trying pitching as a teenager, and he did so grudgingly.
For Daz, the pitch count is three. A four-seam fastball that has averaged 97.7 mph (157.2 kph) in his first three seasons in the MLB is his most often used pitch, and it has been his most effective.
At an average speed of 88.2 miles per hour, his slider and changeup are both capable of striking out batters.
With 14.21 strikeouts per nine innings pitched in his MLB career, Daz has been a dominant strikeout pitcher.
