Adam Robert Ottavino (born November 22, 1985) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently plays for the New York Mets (MLB).
He formerly played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball. He throws right-handed and is a switch hitter, standing 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) and weighing 246 pounds (112 kg).
The Yankees sold Ottavino and minor league pitcher Frank German to the Boston Red Sox on January 25, 2021, for cash considerations or a player to be designated later; it was just the rivalry’s second transaction since 1987.
Ottavino appeared in 69 games for Boston during the regular season, all in relief, with a 7–3 record with 11 saves and a 4.21 ERA; he struck out 71 hitters in 62 innings.
He made five relief appearances in the postseason, giving one run in four innings as the Red Sox advanced to the American League Championship Series. Ottavino chose to become a free agent on November 3rd.
On March 14, 2022, Ottavino signed a one-year contract with the New York Mets.
