Tomás Nido is a professional baseball catcher from Puerto Rico who currently plays for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). In 2017, he made his MLB debut.
He was born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, on April 12, 1994. Guaynabo is a lovely and bustling city in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, Spain.
Tomás Nido began his professional baseball career as a Puerto Rican catcher after finishing his official schooling. Nido grew up in Oviedo, Florida, after being born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. His mother, Liana Vicens, was an 11-year-old swimmer who competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics, and his father, Tomás Nido Sr., earned a tennis medal in the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games.
He is also the grandson of Enrique Vicéns, a former player of the Puerto Rico national basketball team.
Nido began the 2017 season with the Class AA Eastern League’s Binghamton Rumble Ponies. On September 13, he made his major league debut against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
When Travis d’Arnaud tore his ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow in 2018, he was promoted to the major leagues. In 50 games for the Mets in 2019, he hit.191/.231/.316 with four home runs and 14 RBI.
Due to a positive COVID-19 test and the issues that followed, he had to conclude his 2020 season early.
