Justin Warren Dunn is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Cincinnati Reds (MLB). He was previously with the Seattle Mariners.
Dunn attended Boston College before being drafted 19th overall by the New York Mets in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft.
As a child, Dunn was raised by his mother and father in New York’s coastal town of Freeport. A baseball instructor at a boarding school in Washington, Connecticut, recognized him at a showcase with the Boys Club of New York as an 8th-grader.
Dunn left his Long Island home at the age of 13 to attend The Gunnery. Dunn was drafted by the Dodgers in the 37th round of the 2013 MLB draft.
He didn’t sign and went to Boston College to play baseball for the Eagles. Dunn threw 12+13 innings as a rookie in 2014.
He went 1–1 with a 7.30 ERA and 12 Ks. He started three games in his second season. He was the team’s closest after a month.
A 4.94 ERA, 46 strikeouts, and five saves led to a 4–4 record. He spent the 2015 summer season with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Dunn began his junior season as the closer but was promoted to the starting rotation. His 2.06 ERA and 4–2 record as a junior.
