Bradley Richard Hand is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies in the United States.

He previously played for the Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, Washington Nationals, Toronto Blue Jays, and New York Mets in the Major League Baseball (MLB).

Hand was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but his family moved to Chaska before he graduated from high school.

He was a three-sport athlete at Chaska High School, and the Florida Marlins took him in the second round of the 2008 MLB Draft after his senior year.

Hand elected to pursue a professional career over a college baseball commitment to Arizona State.

Hand debuted in the major leagues in 2011 after Marlins starting pitcher Josh Johnson was injured, but his erratic pitch command kept him from being a regular on the team until 2014 when he was relegated to the bullpen.

Hand pitched for Miami for the next two seasons, alternating between starting and relief assignments, before being claimed on waivers by the Padres soon before the season ended.

In San Diego, Hand had a breakout role, thanks in part to his slider. Beginning in 2017, the same year he became a closer, he was named to three consecutive All-Star Games.

Midway through the 2018 season, the Padres traded Hand to the Indians, and he made his first playoff appearance in the American League Division Series.

Hand was perfect in 16 save opportunities for Cleveland in 2020 after suffering from arm fatigue and pitch delivery concerns in 2019, but he was designated for assignment at the end of the year.

Before signing with Philadelphia in 2022, Hand had varied degrees of success in 2021 with Washington, Toronto, and New York.
