The Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the first two expansion teams to join the National Football League in 1976. By the third season of their existence, the Seahawks had achieved a winning record, which they repeated in 1979.
The Seahawks had a more successful decade in the 1980s, including three appearances in the playoffs. When the squad made it to the AFC championship game for the first time, it was in 1983, and when it won its first division title, it was in 1988.

1. Norm Johnson
Norm was the Seahawks’ all-time greatest scorer with 810 points, making 159 of 228 field-goal attempts during his nine-year professional career that began following his collegiate days at UCLA.
In addition, he maintains the Seahawks’ single-season record with 333 successful extra points, and he was a member of the team’s first two playoff teams, in 1983 and 1984.
Later in his career, he kicked the winning field goal in Super Bowl XXX with Pittsburgh, and he also played for Atlanta and Philadelphia before retiring following the 1999 season.
2. Josh Brown
Josh Brown, the Seahawks’ third kicker in franchise history, was selected in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft. With a strong leg, he was capable of making some massive kicks for the Seahawks over his five seasons in Seattle (including a very respectable 13/22 from 50 yards or more in each of those seasons).
In 2008, he signed a contract with the St. Louis Rams, making him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history at the time.
3. Steven Hauschka
Hauschka now holds the all-time club record for field goal percentage for the Seahawks (non-Scott Hagler edition) with an 88.8 percent conversion rate. However, he missed a staggering six extra points, as well as four field goals, throughout the 2016 season.
His field goal percentage is 113 out of 129, and he has accumulated 504 points in four seasons with the Seahawks. As a member of the Seattle Seahawks, he was awarded a Super Bowl ring in 2013, after kicking two field goals and five extra points in Super Bowl XLVIII.
4. John Kasay
Kasay played for the Seahawks for his first four seasons after graduating from Georgia, scoring 341 points and converting 82 of 105 field-goal attempts. He was a founding member of the Carolina Panthers and spent 15 years with them, including in Super Bowl XXXVIII, before joining the New Orleans Saints for his final season.
5. Efren Herrera
A UCLA alumnus was also used by Seattle to catch the ball during fake field-goal attempts. On Monday Football Football at Atlanta in 1979, Herrera caught two passes for 29 yards, including a 20-yarder. He played four seasons with Seattle after winning Super Bowl XII with Dallas, scoring 331 points and kicking 64 of 92 field goals.
