Austin Meadows is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays.
The Tampa Bay Rays acquired Meadows, Tyler Glasnow, and a player to be named later in exchange for Shane Baz, later confirmed to be Meadows, on July 31, 2018, and he was assigned to Triple-A Durham. On September 19, Meadows was promoted to the Tampa Bay Rays.
He hit.250/.308/.417 in 10 games with the Rays, with a home run and four RBIs.
With six home runs and 17 runs batted in, Meadows finished the season with a.287/.325/.461 slash line.
For the 2019 season, Meadows was selected for his first-ever All-Star appearance. On the attacking end, he had the best season of his career in 2019. In 138 games, he had the highest average (.291), most home runs (33), most runs (83), and most RBI (89).
When Meadows tested positive for COVID-19 on July 16th, 2020, he was placed on the disabled list and missed the start of the shortened 2020 season.
