Christian Yelich is an American professional baseball left fielder for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Miami Marlins.
In the first round of the 2010 MLB draft, the Miami Marlins picked Yelich with the 23rd overall pick. It wasn’t long ago, on August 17, that Yelich, the Marlins, and their $1.7 million signing bonus were in agreement.
Before being promoted to Class-A, Yelich played six games in the Gulf Coast League for the Marlins and had a batting average of.375 with nine hits and seven strikeouts.
In 2010, he batted.348 in six games for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. With 43 hits, six walks, and four home runs, he slugged.261 in 2011.
Minor League Player of the Year for the Marlins in both 2011 and 2012 was Yelich. The Marlins called up Yelich from the Double-A Jacksonville Suns on July 23, 2013, and he made his MLB debut the following day.
During the 2014 season, Yelich led the Marlins with a.284 batting average and 31 stolen bases. A Gold Glove Award in left field made him the franchise’s youngest ever player and the first outfielder to win it.
