Christopher Lee Stratton is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Angels in the past.

Stratton attended Mississippi State University from 2010 to 2012 after graduating from Tupelo High School. In 2011, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Harwich Mariners.
He was a consensus All-American as a senior after going 11–2 with a 2.38 ERA and 127 strikeouts. In addition, he was named SEC Pitcher of the Year.
He was also named Mississippi’s top collegiate baseball player, winning the C Spire Ferriss Trophy.
The San Francisco Giants selected Stratton in the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. He was taken to the hospital in August after being hit in the head by a line drive.
Baseball America listed Stratton as the Giants’ third greatest prospect prior to the 2013 season. After the 2015 season, the Giants added him to their 40-man roster.
On May 28, 2016, Stratton was called up to the majors from the Sacramento River Cats (AAA-Pacific Coast League) to replace the injured Matt Cain.
Stratton was moved to the Giants’ bullpen despite being predominantly a starter in the minors, and he made his major league debut on May 30 against the Atlanta Braves, pitching a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning with two strikeouts while retiring all three batters he faced.
He earned his first major league win on June 11 when he threw the top of the 10th inning in the Giants’ triumph over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
When Cain returned from the DL on June 13, he was sent down again but was recalled from the minors the next day when Cain was placed back on the DL with a reinjured hamstring.
Stratton had a 1-0 record and a 3.60 ERA in seven games for the Giants. During his time with the Sacramento River Cats, he had a 12-6 record with a 3.87 ERA.
