Outfielder and first baseman with the Pittsburgh Pirates of the Major League Baseball, Yoshitomo “Yoshi” Tsutsugo is known by his nickname “Yoshi.”
In addition, he has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Tampa Bay Rays in Major League Baseball. Nippon Professional Baseball has played for the Yokohama BayStars/Yokohama DeNA BayStars (NPB).
In the annals of the BayStars franchise, he holds the record for being the youngest player ever to achieve 100, 150, and 200 home runs.
In July of 2016, he established a new record by being the first player in the history of the NPB to have three consecutive games with multiple home runs.
Tsutsugo made his professional debut with the Yokohama BayStars at the age of 18 and appeared in three games in 2010. He signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball on December 16, 2019.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, he returned to Japan on March 25, 2020. He was transferred to the Los Angeles Dodgers in May 2021 in return for cash for a player to be announced later.
