Matt Bush

Matt Bush is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted by the San Diego Padres as the first overall draft pick in the 2004 Major League Baseball draft.

Bush batted.221 in 453 at-bats for the Class-A Midwest League’s Fort Wayne Wizards in 2005. He injured his ankle in 2006 during spring training and was out for the first part of the season.

As of May 28th, Bush had a.583 on-base percentage (OPS). Bush was later converted to pitching by the Padres.

During his high school days, he was known as the school’s ace pitcher, and his fastball could reach speeds of up to 98 mph (158 km/h).

Matt Bush tore a ligament in his pitching elbow in August 2007, halting his season after a promising start in the rookie league. In 2008, he had Tommy John surgery, which ruled him out for the rest of the year.

To ensure that Bush would not be available for selection in the Rule 5 draft, the Padres would place him on the 40-man roster following the 2008 season.

On February 5, 2009, Bush was assigned to fill the vacancy left by Cliff Floyd.

Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that Bush had allegedly assaulted two freshmen lacrosse players while intoxicated in a high school parking lot.
