Marcus Semien is an American professional baseball shortstop and second baseman for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, and Toronto Blue Jays.
Semien was drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 MLB draft by the Chicago White Sox. With the Class A Kannapolis Intimidators, he made his professional debut in 2011.
With 15 doubles, two triples, three home runs, 26 RBIs, and three stolen bases, he concluded the season with a.253 batting average in 229 at-bats.
Winston-Salem Dash promoted Semien to Class A-Advanced for the 2012 season. He had a batting average of.273 in 418 at-bats while swiping 11 bases in his attempt to go for the career-high in doubles. Semien was the White Sox’s eighth-best prospect in 2013.
He made his major league debut against the New York Yankees and got his first hit, a single, off of CC Sabathia, who he faced for the first time.
