Prior to departing, he was named a Top 200 Junior College Prospect and spent the summer of 2013 playing for the Martinsville Mustangs in the Coastal Plains League.

Saucedo transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan University after redshirting in 2013.

In April 2015, Saucedo was named Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week after striking out seven hitters in a complete-game, one-hit shutout victory over Union.

He was taken in the 21st round, 632nd overall, of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. He had a 4–1 record with a 1.53 ERA after the win.

Saucedo made his professional debut with the Rookie Appalachian League’s Bluefield Blue Jays after being drafted.

He pitched 22.1 innings for the team, earning one victory, one save, a 2.42 ERA, and 18 strikeouts. He also pitched for the Low-A Vancouver Canadians, where he went 4-2 with a 2.48 ERA in 13 appearances.

On August 8, 2015, Saucedo pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Canadians to a 5–1 victory over the Spokane Indians in his second game with the franchise.

Saucedo had walked 12 batters and allowed 16 hits in 20 innings by the end of the month. He also struck out 17 batters with a fastball, a curve, a slider, and a change-up, among other pitches.
