Craig Farrell was an English professional footballer who played as a forward in the Football League for Carlisle United.
On June 27, 2006, Farrell became a member of the Conference National York City staff. When York drew 2–2 at home to Southport on September 23, 2006, he scored his first York goal.
Farrell was given a goal total of 15 by York’s manager Billy McEwan for the 2006–07 season in February 2007. This year’s season ended with him playing for two months with torn muscle fibers in his thigh.
The club exercised its option to extend his contract for another season after he finished the season with ten goals in 51 appearances.
For more than a month in the 2007–08 season, after making just seven appearances in that position owing to injuries and poor form, he was forced to switch to center back.
It had been a long road back to fitness for Farrell who returned to the starting lineup against Rushall Olympic in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round and scored the third fastest hat-trick in York City’s history and assisted on a fourth goal.
As a result, he was selected as the FA Cup’s Round Four Player of the Round. In April 2008, York offered him a contract extension for the 2008–09 season, which he accepted in May.
