Seattle Mariners pitcher Andrew Paul Steckenrider is an American professional baseball pitcher (MLB). He was formerly a member of the Miami Marlins baseball team.
In the eighth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, Ricky Steckenrider was selected by the Miami Marlins to join their organization.
He was a member of the Jamestown Jammers, Greensboro Grasshoppers, Jupiter Hammerheads, and New Orleans Zephyrs when he was active in the professional baseball league.
In 2017, he made his debut in the major leagues after being called up to replace David Phelps on the roster. Phelps has been placed on the bereavement list for the team.
He finished the year with a record of 1-1 and had 54 strikeouts in 34.2 innings thrown, giving him the lowest earned run average (ERA) for Miami.
The Seattle Mariners officially announced the signing of Steckenrider to a minor league contract on November 10, 2020. On the 31st of March in the year 2021, Steckenrider was chosen to be part of the 40-man roster.
In 2021, he had a record of 14 saves, an earned-run average of 2.00, 58 strikeouts, and 67 and 2/3 innings pitched. As a replacement for David Phelps,
he was called up to the Major Leagues on May 23, 2017. With a 2.34 ERA in 34.2 innings thrown across 37 big league games and a 1-1 record,
he finished the season as Miami’s best pitcher with a 2.34. As of October 29, 2020, he would have been eligible for the free agency had he not rejected the offer of a promotion.
