Locastro was sent to the New York Yankees for minor league pitcher Drew Finley and cash the day after getting designated. On January 16, 2019, the Yankees dealt minor league pitcher Ronald Roman and money to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for Locastro.

In 2019, Locastro led the big leagues in stolen base percentage while batting .250/.357/.340 and stole 17 bases without being caught, tying his major league lifetime record of 22 steals without being caught.
