Jovani Moran, a left-handed pitcher, was promoted to St. Paul on Friday by the Minnesota Twins from Double-A Wichita. Moran, the Twins’ 30th-ranked prospect, will make his Triple-A debut this season.
Moran, a 25-year-old relief pitcher, began the season with the Wichita Wind Surge of the Double-A Northwest League. In 37.2 innings, he was 2-1 and had an earned run average of 1.91.
From May 23 to June 16, he allowed just three hits in 13.2 innings of work, while not allowing a run.
During his 20 games with the Wind Surge, opponents hit just .112 against him. He is tied for eighth in the Double-A Central with 64 strikeouts, compared to just 14 walks.
While he spent the majority of the 2019 season at Double-A Pensacola, the Puerto Rico native made three appearances with the GCL Twins.
In his 20 appearances with the Blue Wahoos, he allowed a career-high 19 runs on 27 hits, all earned. He had a 2-2 record and a 4.54 ERA for the season.
With a 9-3 record and a 2.25 ERA in 37 games, the left-hander had a solid 2018 season. He has a career-high eight saves in 11 chances this season.
When he was promoted to Fort Myers, he had a 6-1 record in 15 games with the Miracle after playing 22 games with Cedar Rapids before that.
