Carlos Correa was voted the American League Rookie of the Month for June after hitting.287 with 9 doubles, 5 home runs, and 15 RBI despite only making his debut a week into the month.
He hit .279/.345/.512 in 99 games, with 22 doubles and 22 home runs. He went 0-for-4 in the Wild Card Game before hitting.350 with two home runs in the Division Series, which the Astros lost in five games.
He won the American League Rookie of the Year award after the season, finishing ahead of Cleveland Indians’ Francisco Lindor.
Carlos hit 20 home runs and drove in 96 runs in his first full season (153 games) in 2016, making him the youngest Astro to hit a home run on Opening Day. With four walk-off hits, he was the majors’ leader in the category.
He blasted home runs off Jhoulys Chacin, Jordan Romano, and Rick van den Hurk while hitting .333/.500/.750 with 10 runs and 9 RBI in eight games for the Puerto Rican national team, which finished second in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
Lindor, who played shortstop for Puerto Rico, was selected as the event’s All-Star third baseman (and also made the All-Star team).
Why Is Carlos Correa On The IL List?
Due to a bruised right middle finger that wasn’t healing quickly enough for Carlos Correa to play against his former team, the Minnesota Twins placed him on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday.
