Victor Manuel Caratini is a professional baseball catcher from Puerto Rico who currently plays for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball.

He was a member of the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres in the past. He was dubbed “The Scientist” after catching Joe Musgrove’s no-hitter.

Caratini was taken in the second round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves out of Miami Dade College.

That season, he made his professional debut with the Danville Braves. Caratini primarily played catcher in 2014 after predominantly playing third base in his rookie season. With the Rome Braves, he began the season.

The Braves traded Caratini to the Chicago Cubs on July 31 in exchange for Emilio Bonifacio and James Russell.

He was assigned to the Kane County Cougars by the Cubs for the remainder of the season. Caratini batted for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans during the 2015 season.

With four home runs and 53 runs batted in, he has a batting average of 257. He batted with the Tennessee Smokies during the 2016 season. With six home runs and 47 runs batted in, he has a batting average of 291 and a slugging percentage .

Caratini was added to the Cubs 40-man roster after playing with the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League after the 2016 season.
