On December 11, 2014, Bass agreed to a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers. Bass, who was primarily utilized as a reliever, split his time between the Majors and the AAA level.

The Rangers dealt Leonys Martin and Bass to the Seattle Mariners after the 2015 campaign in exchange for Tom Wilhelmsen, James Jones, and a future player (Patrick Kivlehan).
