On April 3rd, Soler suffered a leg injury in his first game with the Tennessee Smokies, adding to his injury woes in 2014.

He had to return to the AZL Cubs for recovery, but in 22 games with Tennessee, he hit.415 with eight home runs and 22 RBIs, demonstrating the kind of quality the Cubs had been searching for since signing him up.

Upon his promotion to the AAA Iowa Cubs on July 24th, he hit .278/.376/593 in 31 games with the Iowa Cubs’ minor league affiliate.

This is the latest in a long line of top prospects, including former minor league teammate Javier Baez, who has been promoted to the Cubs’ major league squad this season.

After Luis Valbuena’s home run in the second inning put the Reds ahead 2-0 in the second inning, he matched Baez’s feat by blasting a single shot to center field in his first career at-bat on August 27th.

Baez had to wait until extra innings to homer in his debut. Soler finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI single, but the Cubs fell, 7-5.

When Starlin Castro hit his first major league home run in 2010, it was the first time a Cubs player had done so since.

During his third game, on August 29th, he hit two home runs in a 7-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, becoming the second player in his first three major league games to do so (after Javier Baez).

In his fourth professional game, he became the first player since RBI became an official statistic in 1920 to have an extra-base hit and an RBI.

At the end of the season, his OPS+ was 145, which came out to a batting average of .292 with 8 doubles, 5 homers, and 11 runs batted in.
