Max Stassi is an American professional baseball catcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Oakland Athletics drafted him in the fourth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft.
Stassi was a Class A-Short Season Northwest League hitter for the Vancouver Canadians, batting.280/.345/.360. In 2010, he impressed team executives during spring training and was assigned to the Class A Midwest League’s Kane County Cougars, where he batted .229/.310/.380.
Class A-Advanced California League in 2011, he batted.233/.331/.331, but had shoulder surgery and missed the final month of the season with the Stockton Ports. On a personal level, he’s a fan favorite.
In 84 games with Stockton in 2012, he hit.268 with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs. To acquire Jed Lowrie and Fernando Rodriguez, the Athletics sent Stassi to the Houston Astros with Brad Peacock and Chris Carter on February 4, 2013.
As a member of the Class AA Texas League’s Corpus Christi Hooks, Stassi hit home runs in five straight games in July 2013.

According to Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register, Stassi won’t be getting the nod in the starting lineup for the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Mariners.
