The MLB Network aired a documentary about José early in the 2015 season, and a crew from MLB Productions followed him around during spring training to film the feature.
Astros owner Jim Crane came up with the idea for the film because he wanted to gain the team some attention while also making the charismatic young star more popular with fans.
When Altuve competed in the 2014 Nichi-Bei Series in Japan the previous November, the footage had already been shot, as had footage shot in Venezuela over the winter.
Altuve, for his part, said: “Like Brad Pitt, I feel like I might be a movie star. Surely this is the beginning of my career in the entertainment industry?”
In the first month of the season, he was once again on fire, going 19 for 39 in a stretch of eight straight games with multiple hits (.487).
On April 30th, he drove in Marwin Gonzalez from second base with his third single of the game to give Houston a 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners in extra innings.
As a result of that early-season success, Houston Astros finished the month 15-7, tied with the Kansas City Royals for first place in the American League, with a record of 15-7.
Against Seattle in a 4-3 victory, he continued the hot streak that he had begun in April. Jesus Alou and Billy Hatcher previously held the record for the most goals scored by a team.
