J.J. Matijevic whose full name is Joseph John Matijevic is a professional American Baseball first baseman for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball who was born on November 14, 1995, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania in the United States. He made his major league baseball debut in the year 2022. That is supposed to mean he just earmarked in his MLB later this year 2022.

Baseball player Matijevic attended Norwin High School in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, where he was known to play both basketball and baseball during his amateur career. In the 22nd round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, the Boston Red Sox selected him to play shortstop.

He didn’t sign, though, for some unknown reason, and instead chose to enroll at the University of Arizona, where he played college baseball for the Arizona Wildcats. With the Falmouth Commodore of the Cape Cod Baseball League, he also participated in collegiate summer baseball. In the year 2015, he attained the title “All-Starr.”

When the Houston Astros selected him with the 75th overall pick in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, he started his professional career with them. At the time, it was reported that he received $700,000 after joining them. You might be interested to know that on April 27, 2022, J.J. Matijevic started the first game of his career.

What Happened To J.J. Matijevic?

His 2019 season got underway with the Class AA Texas League’s Corpus Christi Hooks. Matijevic was given a 50-game suspension on April 30 after failing a second drug test.
