American professional baseball pitcher Daniel Paul Bard, who plays for the Colorado Rockies in Major League Baseball, was born on June 25, 1985. Between 2009 to 2013, he was a member of the Boston Red Sox.
With 25 straight scoreless outings in 2011, Bard established a Red Sox franchise record. His fastest pitch reached a speed of 102 mph (164 km/h). Later on, Bard lost control of his pitches, which ended his playing career.
He pitched in just two major league games in 2013, then played for a number of minor league clubs before retiring in 2017 to become a player mentor.
After recovering control in 2020, Bard made a comeback as a player, gained a seat on the Rockies’ MLB team, and went on to win the National League Comeback Player of the Year Award as their closing pitcher.
Bard pitched for scouts in February 2020 and declared he will make a return effort. Bard signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies on February 22, 2020, and was later assigned to their Triple-A affiliate, the Albuquerque Isotopes.
Bard avoided salary arbitration by signing a $4.4 million contract with the Rockies on March 22, 2022.
