Jacob Allen “J. B.” Bukauskas happens to be a professional baseball pitcher. He plays for the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. Bukauskas was born and raised in Ashburn in Virginia on October 11, 1996.
He had his amateur baseball career at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Virginia where he was named the 2014 All-Met Baseball Player of the Year. When he graduated from high school, he enrolled at the University of North Carolina. In 2016, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
During his junior year in college, he was named ACC Pitcher of the Year and first-team all-American by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball. He was drafted in 2017 by the Houston Astros in the 2017 MLB draft. He signed with the Astros and made his professional debut that year with the Gulf Coast League Astros.
He was later promoted to the Tri-City ValleyCats where he finished the season. The Astros traded Bukauskas in July 2019 to the Arizona Diamondbacks and in November 2020, the Diamondbacks added him to their 40-man roster.
The Diamondbacks called him up to the major leagues in April 2021 and he made his MLB debut on April 20 that year when they played against the Cincinnati Reds.
