Ronald Acuna is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2018 and won the National League Rookie of the Year Award.
International free agent Acuna signed with the Atlanta Braves in July of 2014 for a $100,000 signing bonus.
With the Gulf Coast Braves in 2015, he was promoted to the Danville Braves, where he spent the rest of the season. Between the two clubs, his batting average was .269, with four home runs, 18 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases in as many at-bats.
Due to an injury, he played in only 42 games with the Gulf Coast Braves and Rome Braves in 2016, hitting.313/.393/.429 with four home runs and 19 RBIs.
ABL All-Star after the season, he played for Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League after the season. It wasn’t until the 2017 season when Acuna made his Grapefruit League debut as a player originally sent to a minor league camp.
In the Class A-Advanced Florida State League, he started the year and was later promoted to the Class AA Mississippi Braves. At the All-Star Futures Game in July, Acuna was one of three World Team players to play the entire game.
