Dakota Hudson is an American professional baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his major league debut in 2018.
Hudson was considered one of the best prospects in the 2016 MLB draft. He was picked 34th overall in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals.
It was the choice they got in exchange for free agent Jason Heyward joining the Chicago Cubs.
He signed a $2 million contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. Hudson was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Cardinals, the St. Louis Cardinals’ rookie-level minor league team.
In four games, he pitched four scoreless innings. He was then promoted to the Palm Beach Cardinals, the St. Louis Cardinals’ Class A Advanced affiliate.
Hudson finished the 2016 season with a 1–1 record and a 0.96 ERA in eight relief appearances.
He started the 2017 campaign with the Springfield Cardinals. The Springfield Cardinals are the St. Louis Cardinals’ Double-A affiliate.
He was also chosen as the starting pitcher for the Texas League All-Star Game. Hudson had a 9–4 record with a 2.53 ERA in 18 starts last season.
He was promoted to the Memphis Redbirds. The Memphis Redbirds are the St. Louis Cardinals’ triple-A affiliate.
