Maxwell Martin Scherzer happens to be one of the professional baseball players with the New York Mets baseball team. He plays as a pitcher for the team and earns an annual salary of $43.3 million from the Mets.
Max was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2006 MLB draft. He signed with the Diamondbacks and began his professional career in 2007 when he was made to play for the Single-A Visalia Oaks. He was named the fourth-best prospect in the Diamondbacks team during the 2008 offseason.
The Diamondbacks promoted him to the major leagues for the first time in April 2008 and he made his MLB debut that month for the Diamondbacks when they played versus the Houston Astros. He was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2009 and 2014, Max agreed on a $15.525 million salary for the 2014 season to avoid salary arbitration.
He signed a seven-year contract worth $210 million in January 2015 with the Washington Nationals. When the contract with the Nationals ended, they traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers and in December 2021, he signed a three-year contract worth $130 million with the New York Mets.
