Taijuan Walker was born Taijuan Emmanuel Walker. He plays professional baseball for the New York Mets baseball team of Major League Baseball. He plays as a pitcher for the team with a height of 1.93 m.
Taijuan was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 13, 1992. Whiles in high school at Yucaipa High School in Yucaipa, California, he played baseball for the school where he played as a pitcher and shortstop.
During the 2010 MLB draft, the Seattle Mariners selected him in the first round of the draft. He agreed to play for the Mariners and he was given $800,000 as a signing bonus. He made his professional debut that year after he was assigned to the Rookie League AZL Mariners.
Before the 2012 season began, he was ranked the second-best prospect in the Mariners organization and the 20th best overall player. The Mariners selected him to play in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game. He was promoted to play for the Tacoma Rainiers of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League in August 2013.
The Mariners traded him to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016 and in February 2020, Taijuan signed a one-year contract of $2 million to return to the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners traded him again in August 2020 to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Taijuan signed a two-year contract in February 2021 with the New York Mets. The contract was worth $20 million with a player option for the 2023 season.
