Tyler Stephenson, born Tyler Robert Stephenson is an American born professional baseball catcher known to play for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team of Major League Baseball. Tyler was born and raised in Georgia on August 16, 1996.
Growing up, Tyler often went to watch baseball games at Turner Field where he saw Chipper Jones and the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB) play. He played high school baseball for the baseball team at Kennesaw Mountain High School. After his high school education and career, the Cincinnati Reds selected him in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft.
Tyler agreed to play for them instead of going to college to play college baseball for Georgia Tech. After signing with the Reds, he was assigned to the Rookie-level Billings Mustangs that year to begin his professional career. He began the 2016 season playing for the Dayton Dragons in the Low-A Midwest League.
The Reds promoted him to the Class A-Advanced Daytona Tortugas of the Florida State League for the 2018 season. In 2019, the Reds’ farm system promoted him to the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern League. He made his MLB debut in July 2020 for the Reds after he was promoted to the major leagues.
