Colin Richard Moran is a Major League Baseball third baseman for the Cincinnati Reds in the United States. He formerly played for the Houston Astros and the Pittsburgh Pirates in Major League Baseball.
Moran was a member of the North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team while attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He was selected Freshman of the Year and was the only first named to the All-America team during his freshman season.
Moran was taken sixth overall in the 2013 Major League Baseball draft after his junior year by the Miami Marlins.
The following season, they dealt him to the Astros. Moran was promoted to the major leagues by the Astros in 2016. On January 13, 2018, the Astros traded him to the Pirates in exchange for Gerrit Cole.
Moran went to New Rochelle, New York’s Iona Preparatory School.
He went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) to play college baseball for the North Carolina Tar Heels of the Atlantic Coast Conference after being undrafted out of high school (ACC).
He led the Tar Heels with a .335 batting average, .442 on-base percentage, .540 slugging percentage, nine home runs, 71 RBIs, and 20 doubles in his freshman season.
