Donovan Solano is a Colombian professional baseball second baseman for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Miami Marlins, New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants.
The St. Louis Cardinals signed Solano as an international free agent in 2005. A backup infielder for the Cardinals for seven seasons, he never made it to the big leagues.
He was an All-Star in the Class A-Advanced Florida State League with the Palm Beach Cardinals in 2008. A non-roster invite was extended to Solano by the Miami Marlins in 2012.
As a result, Solano was sent to the New Orleans Zephyrs of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, where he contended with Donnie Murphy for a reserve infielder position.
