Nick Maton is an American professional baseball shortstop and second baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021.
A freshman shortstop, Maton batted.299 and had 12 doubles, four triples, and three home runs with 28 runs scored and 24 RBIs for the Panthers. He was also named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Freshman team.
Nick Maton played summer college baseball with Fayetteville SwampDogs of Coastal Plain League and batted.175 with two doubles and 15 RBIs after the season.
After his first year, he went to Lincoln Land Community College. On the mound, Maton had a 4-1 record in 13 outings and was originally set to continue his college baseball career at the University of Missouri after a stellar season with the Loggers in which he tallied eight home runs and 46 RBIs.
He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the seventh round of the 2017 MLB draft and agreed to join the team.
Maton began his professional career with the Williamsport Crosscutters, a minor league affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. In 58 games, he hit.252 with two home runs, 13 RBIs, 34 runs scored, and ten stolen bases.
