Rony Javier García (born December 19, 1997) is a Dominican Major League Baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (MLB). In 2020, he made his MLB debut.
García signed as an international free agent with the New York Yankees on July 2, 2015. He spent the 2016 season between the DSL Yankees and the GCL Yankees, posting a 3–5 win-loss record with a 2.28 earned run average (ERA) in 71 innings pitched.
He pitched for the Pulaski Yankees and the Charleston RiverDogs in 2017, going 2–3 with a 2.50 ERA in 75+23 innings. He pitched for the Charleston Riverdogs and the Tampa Tarpons in 2018, going 4–9 with a 4.31 ERA in 119 innings.
The Detroit Tigers picked García with the first pick in the 2019 Rule 5 draft on December 12, 2019. García made his major league debut on July 28, 2020, and pitched three innings, allowing three runs. García participated in 15 games for the 2020 Detroit Tigers, with a 1–0 record with an 8.14 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 21 innings thrown.
García did not participate in spring training in 2021 due to an appendectomy, and he began the season with the Toledo Mud Hens. On May 30, he was promoted to the major leagues by the Detroit Tigers. García was put on the 60-day disabled list on June 15 due to a left knee strain.
