Joe Alexander Jiménez is a professional baseball pitcher from Puerto Rico who currently pitches for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball.
In 2017, he made his Major League Baseball debut, and in 2018, he was named to the All-Star team.
In June 2013, Jiménez signed with the Detroit Tigers as an undrafted free agent after graduating from the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy.
That year, he made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Tigers. He played with the Connecticut Tigers in 2014 and the West Michigan Whitecaps in 2015.
Jiménez was named the Tigers Minor League Pitcher of the Year after going 5–1 with a 1.47 ERA, 0.791 WHIP, and 17 saves in 40 appearances for West Michigan in 2015.
Jiménez pitched for the Lakeland Flying Tigers, Erie SeaWolves, and Toledo Mud Hens during the 2016 season. He pitched in the All-Star Futures Game in July.
Over 53+23 innings pitched, he had a 3–3 record with 30 saves, a 1.51 earned run average (ERA), 0.80 walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP), and a .144 batting average against 78 strikeouts.
Jiménez was selected Minor League Pitcher of the Year by the Tigers. Jiménez joined the Mud Hens for the 2017 season.
Prior to the 2017 season, Jiménez competed for the Puerto Rican national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, winning a silver medal.
