Gregory Soto is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of the Dominican Republic.
In December 2012, Soto signed as an international free agent with the Detroit Tigers.
In 2013, he made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Tigers, finishing 1-2 with a 4.82 ERA in 16 games (12 starts), and he returned in 2014, going 5–3 with a 3.20 ERA in 16 games (12 starts).
He pitched for the Gulf Coast Tigers and the Connecticut Tigers in 2015, going 2–5 with a 3.23 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 39 innings between the two clubs, then 3–2 with a 3.03 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 15 starts for Connecticut in 2016.
Soto began the 2017 season with the West Michigan Whitecaps before being promoted to the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
He was named the Tigers minor league pitcher of the year after going 12–2 with a 2.25 ERA and 144 strikeouts between the two teams.
After the 2017 season, the Tigers added him to their 40-man roster.
He pitched for Lakeland in 2018, finishing 8–8 with a 4.45 ERA in 113 innings. Major League Baseball suspended Soto for 20 games on January 11, 2019, for “conduct detrimental to baseball” under Article XII (B).
The suspension began on the first day of play. On April 20, he was activated and optioned to Lakeland, where he played one game before being promoted to the Erie SeaWolves.
On May 11, 2019, Soto made his major league debut as the 26th man in a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins.
Soto was signed by the Tigers out of summer camp in 2020. Against the Minnesota Twins on August 29, 2020, he recorded his first professional save.
He pitched in 27 games with the Detroit Tigers in 2020, going 0–1 with a 4.30 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 23.0 innings.
