Willi Castro is a Puerto Rican professional baseball shortstop for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). In July 2013, Castro signed a free-agent contract with the Cleveland Indians.
With the Arizona League Indians in 2014, he made his professional debut with a.239 average, two home runs, and 11 RBIs in 43 games.
While with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2015, he hit.264 with one home run and 25 RBIs as well as 20 stolen bases. In 2016, he played for the Lake County Captains and Lynchburg Hillcats, where he hit.258 with seven home runs and 49 RBIs in a combined season.
In 2017, Castro played for Lynchburg, where he slugged.290 with 11 home runs, 58 RBIs, 19 stolen bases, and a.761 on-base percentage. After the season, the Indians added him to their 40-man roster.
Cleveland’s fifth-best prospect, according to MLB.com, is Castro. The Akron RubberDucks were his first stop of the 2018 season.
