Meet Roger Clemens
William Roger Clemens, also known as “Rocket,” is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who spent 24 seasons in the league.
Clemens was one of the most powerful pitchers in big league history with 354 wins, a 3.12 ERA and 4,672 strikeouts, which ranked third all-time.
During his career, he earned more Cy Young Awards than any other pitcher in history. He became the first pitcher in MLB history to open a season with a 20-1 record in 2001.
In the same game in 2003, he got his 300th win and 4,000th strikeout.
He is the only pitcher in Major League history with more than 350 wins and 4,500 strikeouts. The Mitchell Report claimed that Clemens utilized anabolic drugs late in his career.
Vandalia, Ohio, was where Clemens was born and where he spent most of his early life. The Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins were interested in him, but he decided to attend college instead.
Debra Lynn Godfrey
Roger Clemens’ wife is Debra Lynn Godfrey. Debra was born in the U.S. She lived with her mother and brother in a modest apartment following her parents’ divorce.
Roger Clemens and Debra Lynn Godfrey have been married for 36 years. She graduated from Houston’s Springwood High School and Houston Community College.
Lynn worked during the day and went to school at night due to money. Godfrey was a smart kid with top grades.
