Alec Bettinger is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Bettinger played college baseball at the University of Virginia after graduating from Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Virginia.
The Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. Bettinger made his professional debut with the Helena Brewers in rookie ball.
He pitched in 25 games for the Single-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the High-A Carolina Mudcats in 2018, going 6–10 with a 5.22 ERA.
Bettinger pitched for the Biloxi Shuckers in Double-A in 2019, posting a 5–7 record, 3.44 ERA, and 157 strikeouts in 146.1 innings of work.
Bettinger did not appear in a game in 2020 since the Minor League Baseball season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. After the 2020 season, the Brewers added him to their 40-man roster.
Bettinger was promoted to the major leagues for the first time on April 29, 2021.
Bettinger made his MLB debut on May 2 as a starter against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he received the loss after allowing 11 earned runs in four frames, including grand slams by A. J. Pollock and Matt Beaty in each of the first two innings.
