Albert Almora Jr is an American professional baseball center fielder for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets.
With two hits in six at-bats, he helped the Cubs to a 3-2 win in the Division Series, and 3 for 16 with two doubles and a homer in the National League Championship Series.
Initially, it appeared that he would be the Cubs’ outfield stalwart for the next decade, but in 2018, he struggled mightily, hitting just.286 in 152 games.
His OPS dropped to 86 despite a career-high 62 runs scored, 127 hits, and 24 doubles, but he only hit five home runs and drew 24 walks. The Cubs’ season ended in defeat, as they were one win away from the National League’s top record with one game remaining.
However, he was eliminated from the postseason early after losing both a one-game playoff for the division title against the Milwaukee Brewers and the Wild Card Game in extra innings to the Colorado Rockies, both at home. As a result of the team’s defeat to the Rockies, Albert only went 2 for 5 with two strikeouts.
